Crocs – The New Craze
Crocs which was originally developed as a spa shoe is a brand of light weight, comfortable clogs founded by George B Boedecker, Jr. The first model of these shoes came to the market as Crocs Beach in 2002 Ft.Lauderdale Boat Show selling a number of 200 pairs. After the show many orders started to pour in demanding for more. Within the next couple of years many versions of the crocs appeared in the stores.
Today Crocs have expanded their production by producing shoes in vivid colours and for various purposes. They are made mainly in China, Florida, Mexico, Bosnia and Italy.
Crocs have holes designed in various patterns, these holes are called ports. The shoes are so strategically made with a strap at the back which can be flipped up so that the shoe can be worn both as a clog or a slip-on. When flipped to the back the croc look more like a sandal. Crocs are available in the stores as clogs, flip flops and boots. It is also designed for all men, women, girls and boys. Ladies have a range of Crocs to select including Alice, Captiva, Cleo – sandal, Malindi, Mary Jane and Sassari – High Wedge shoes. The range of Crocs that everyone can wear is Athens Flip Flop, Baya, Cayman, Off Road, Professional, Scutes and Yukon. There’s something for everyone’s taste. The knock-off models are in black, white, brown, pink and green. However the Beach and Cayman styles are available in more than 20 colours. Others come to the market only in two or three colours.
